Other special guests included the Mayor of Nyngan, Glenn Neill, the President of WWA, Peter Mackay, and Nyngan Royal Far West branch members.
One hundred cyclists have been cycling across western NSW raising funds for Royal Far West, which celebrated its 100th anniversary last year.
WWA Choir members Hayley O’Hara, Kallee-Ray Forbes, Roxy Cobcroft and Kiara-Ann Forbes sang two songs in Wayilwan language in front of a crowd of approximately 120 people. “The applause at the conclusion of the performance was resounding and made us feel so proud of the girls,” said Nettie Slade, WWA board member.
Jacqueline Emery, CEO of Royal Far West, warmly welcomed Warraan Widji Arts and interviewed WWA president Peter Mackay on their journey to reawakening Wayilwan language in Warren.
“Royal Far West welcomed us warmly at the event,” Peter said. “We were so grateful for the opportunity for the choir to perform and be gifted a copy of the book commemorating the 100th anniversary of RFW.”
Warraan Widji Arts would also like to thank the Warren Youth Foundation for loaning their bus to assist with transport to Nyngan.
