Although she only occasionally has race rides, Rebecca McRae on her home track, won the first three races at Yass Picnics on Saturday, with two of the winners, Rogue Hero and Texas Open, being trained by her husband Alan McRae.

The other winner on the biggest day of Rebecca’s career was Memphis Tennessee from the John Rolfe stable at Canberra.

Reared in the Tottenham area and a long time trainer at Yass, Alan McRae had Rogue Hero ($2 equal favourite) primed for a good run first up and the $2 equal favourite tracked the leader before winning the 900 metres Commence Communications Maiden Plate by a length from Air Miles (Leandro Ribeiro, $2) and Guetary (Paul Zerafa, $4). Giving Alan and Rebecca McRae the second leg of a family double, Texas Open ($3.20 equal favourite) kicked clear turning for home and at the finish had over two lengths to spare from Callie Cool (Leandro Ribeiro, $3.20) and Mihrimah (Ricky Blewitt, $4.20) in the 900 metres Yarrah/Waldren Constructions Class Three Handicap. With her confidence buoyed, Rebecca McRae, cheered on by the big crowd, then led all the way on the John Rolfe-trained Memphis Tennessee ($4.40) to beat Kuroshinzo (Leandro Ribeiro, $4 )and Mary Le Bone (Ricky Blewitt, $3.20 favourite) in the 1200 metres Michael Abbey Memorial Class B Handicap.

Denis Consadine ventured from Mudgee as the trainer of I Alone to land a winner at Yass in the 1350 metres Endeavor Meats/Pickles Ag Maiden Plate.

Patiently ridden by Narromine jockey Ricky Blewitt, I Alone ($2.50) came from last and after a good battle with Nineteenth Hole (Zara Lewis, $2.70) beat that horse in a close finish while Romantic Tom (Leandro Ribeiro, $4.40 ) was over four lengths back in third place.

Setting a weight carrying record, the Todd Smart, Canberra trained Gundy Guy humped 77.5kg to a runaway win in the 1350 metres Elders Yass/EJ Merriman Ravensworth Yass Picnic Cup. Travelling third behind Luna Angel and Foxwell, Gundy Guy (Dylan Parrott, $2 favourite) in an incredible performance under the massive weight cleared out to win by over four lengths from Allande (Leandro Ribeiro, $4.40) and Foxwell (Ricky Blewitt, $13).

Dylan Parrott completed a double when he brought the Warren Ganderton, Nowra-trained Human Shield ($2.90 favourite) from behind the leaders to beat I’m Kenough (Leandro Ribeiro, $4.40) and Individualist (Amber Collins, $10) in the 1100 metres Nimbus Finance Brokers Trophy Handicap.
