Bathurst - raced Tuesday, May 12, 2026
A consistent placegetter but winless after 22 starts, the Melissa Harrison, Forbes-trained Erion broke through at Bathurst on Tuesday, May 12 to win the opening event, the 1100 metres JB Civil Concreting Maiden Plate.
Continuing a good run of success for the Harrison stable, Erion ($17) with Pierre Boudvillain in the saddle, travelled nicely behind the leader and won by a neck from Voynichese (Coriah Keatings, $1.90 favourite) while Prophet’s Lass (Izzy Neale, $4.20) was two lengths away third.
Pierre Boudvillain with 114 wins so far this season, leads the NSW jockeys premiership from Zac Lloyd (102), Tommy Berry (98) and James McDonald (89).
Dubbo apprentice Jacob Stiff who only started race riding last August, took his tally to 42 wins after a Bathurst double on Michelangelo and Invincible Salex.
First up for successful Bathurst trainer Dean Mirfin after having two previous trainers, the three-year-old Michelangelo (Jacob Stiff, $2.80 equal favourite) swooped on the leading group in the straight to score by a length from Time For Snow (Robyn Freeman, $2.80) and Helligan (Jack Martin, $7.50) in the 1800 metres Inland Digital Class One and Maiden Plate.
Trained at Narromine by Kylie Kennedy for Robert Gainsford, Invincible Salex ($4.40) was exceptionally well ridden by Jacob Stiff in the 1100 metres Bathurst Plumbing and Gasfitting Class One Handicap when coming from off the pace with a rails run to beat Russian Ember (Mikayla Weir, $21) and Chappolicious (Winona Costin, $3.70).
Dale Cole is another apprentice riding well and he brought the Andrew Bourke, Boorowa trained Missile Defence ($7.50) with a strong run from midfield to win the 1400 metres CWNET Benchmark $58 Handicap from Tillman (Pierre Boudvillain, $8) and Green Pineapple (Ashleigh McCabe, $3.60 favourite).
Brewarrina - raced Saturday, May 16, 2026
Noted frontrunner Toulon Factor was not given an easy time in the leaders role before winning the feature race, before a very good crowd on Saturday at Brewarrina.
The overall winner of 14 races including six at Armidale, Mudgee, Warren, Narrabri, Nyngan and Brewarrina since September, the nine-year-old grey gelding has on most occasions, established mid-race leads of up to 10 lengths and romped home to victory.
Not so in the 1200 metres Zeus Global and Beds On The Barwon-Brewarrina Cup when the Jane Clement, Mendooran-trained Toulon Factor was taken on for the lead by several rivals, from the outset.
With regular rider apprentice Gabrielle Johnston in the saddle, Toulon Factor ($2.20 favourite) looked vulnerable when holding only a slender margin turning for home however responded gamely to race away and win by almost three lengths from the Queensland trained Roll Up (Zoe Hunt, $3) and Line Of Law (Hollie Hull, $5.50).
Gabrielle Johnston then combined again with Jane Clement to win the following race with Hardyo ($1.80 favourite) which raced outside Hemsted (Hollie Hull, $4) before drawing clear to score by three lengths with Allande (Liam Blanch,$3) third in the 1600 metres Craig and Nikki Redmond Transport Benchmark 50 Handicap.
Wendy Peel who had landed 231 winners as a jockey, celebrated her first win since recently being granted a dual trainer-jockey licence when Dodge The Dark owned by David Simmons from Trundle and Mark Ward (Condobolin), won the 1200 metres Stabilising Group Benchmark 45 Handicap at Brewarrina.
Now with stables at Nyngan, Wendy Peel led all the way on Dodge The Dark ($3.60) to beat the strong finishing Blackhill Kitty (Leanne Boyd, $4) and Notleanormean (Hollie Hull, $4).
Fellow Nyngan trainer Greg O’Neill produced a very smart debut maker in the three-year-old gelding Cod On Ice, runaway winner of the 1200 metres Rebel Ag and Civil and Quarries Maiden Plate.
Inquisitrix led briefly before Cod On Ice (Dylan Stanley, $8 to $6) took control and cleared out to win by nearly 10 lengths from Inquisitrix (Liam Blanch, $4) and Lotina (Leanne Boyd, $13).
Crossing the border from Queensland, Cunnamulla trainer Monique Gavin supplied the quinella in the 900 metres Thomas Foods International when Zouphisticate (Leanne Boyd, $16 to $12) led throughout to beat Zouchase (Angel Brennan, $6) and Adviser (Gabrielle Johnston, $3).
Many improvements have been carried out at the Brewarrina racecourse and wrapping up a very successful meeting the Connie Greig, Dubbo-trained The Bentley (Hollie Hull, $1.60 to $1.40 favourite) from second early, careered to a 13-lengths win over Recovery Road (Dylan Stanley, $3) and Culgoa Kate (Zoe Hunter, $4) in the 1600 metres Woodhams Petroleum and Ag Vista Class One and Maiden Plate.
Parkes - raced Sunday, May 17, 2026
Wagga Wagga-based Darrell Burnet, a relatively newcomer to the trainers rank who landed his first winner in 2021, has already become well established and achieved one of his best results on Sunday when his six-year-old gelding Astunner won the $40,000 Parkes Services Club-Parkes Cup.
Given a great run behind the leader by Mikayla Weir, Astunner ($9) overhauled the Clint Lundholm, Dubbo trained Stockholm (Zoe Hunt, $16) to win the 1600 metres Cup by almost two lengths with Jasper’s Way (Jake Pracey-Holmes, $6) running on well for third.
Jasper’s Way is trained at Dubbo by Michael Mulholland who had earlier unveiled the very impressive debut maker Heaps Of Notice to win the opening event.
A six-year-old mare, Heaps Of Notice had revealed outstanding potential when beating the very good gallopers Lockdown Gamble and Quasimodo in a barrier trial at Dubbo and started the $2.20 favourite for the 1000 metres McPhersons Parts and Service/ Parkes Taxis Maiden Handicap.
Settling well back, Heaps Of Notice under the expert guidance of talented apprentice Jacob Stiff, steamed home to win by a half-length from the Sharon Jeffries, Parkes trained Kingdom Heart (Grant Buckley, $8) with Nucleaire (Jake Pracey-Holmes, $11) in third place.
The 1400 metres Parkes Services Club Super Maiden Plate had a $22,000 first prize however the owners of the winner were entitled to receive a $100,000 Inglis Extra Bonus if their horse was qualified for the bonus.
Parkes had been selected as one of the hosts for the Inglis series and for the second year in succession at Parkes the $100,000 bonus was won by a qualifier, this time by the Matthew Dale, Goulburn trained grey filly Graynita.
Taking the lead from Yeszem in the straight, Graynita (Louise Day, $31) held off by a half-length the fast finishing Spiritual Star (Brodie Loy, $41) and the Sydney trained Che Ole (Chad Lever, $3.10 equal favourite).
Owned by the McMahon family from Tullamore, the seven-year-old mare Miss Jennifer staged a good performance to win the feature sprint, the 1200 metres Coachman Hotel Punters Club Satellite Handicap.
Coming from the tail of the field with a strong run on the inside, the Danny Williams, Goulburn-trained Miss Jennifer (Mathew Cahill, $6 to $4.40) arrived in time to beat Panic (Louise Day, $3.70 favourite) and Mountain Top (Jacob Stiff, $5.50).
Rain during the day softened the track however, trainers and jockeys agreed the racing surface was outstanding for the eight races meeting.
