On Wednesday, April 22 the Didi Simmons and Pook Austin Trophy, an 18-hole Stableford event, was contested. What a fantastic day it was.

An outstanding field of 21 players took to the course, numbers that continue to grow week by week, which is just wonderful to see.

Even better was the strong support from the men, adding to the great atmosphere on the day.

The course was presented in magnificent condition and combined with beautiful autumn weather and great company, made for a truly enjoyable day all round.

Leading the field with a terrific score of 37 points was Christine Tilley with Sue Burke runner-up on 33 points. Scores were incredibly close, with four players tying on 31 points to fill third through to sixth places, followed by seventh and eighth both on 30, a great indication of the competitive yet friendly spirit of our golfers.

Nearest the pin winners were Lorraine Faulkner Smith on the fourth, Deb Kentwell on the 13th and 18th, and Josie Cosgrove on the 16th.

A big thank you to Pook and Didi for their generous prizes and continued support of ladies golf - it is very much appreciated.

Saturday’s ANZAC Day 18-hole Stableford event was another standout, again attracting a fantastic field of 21 players, including nine men, a wonderful show of support.

Taking out the day with an excellent 39 points was JJ Noonan. Runner-up was Elsie Scullard on 38 points after a countback from Kevin Taylor and Ian Morgan.

Nearest the pin winners were Deb Kentwell on the fourth and Kevin Taylor on the 18th.

Once again, the weather was kind, the course was in superb condition and the camaraderie among players made for another memorable day.

It’s no surprise that numbers are on the rise. With a course presented in such immaculate condition, a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, and the enjoyment of good company, our golf days continue to be something people don’t want to miss.

The club is buzzing at the moment and it’s fantastic to see both familiar faces and new players joining in each week.

The course was looking its best for yesterday’s PGA Legends of Golf Pro-Am, an individual event where players are paired with a PGA professional. Many other quality events will be held the upcoming week.
