Tigers out of first grade finals contention

The Tigers’ slim hopes of making the Peter McDonald Premiership rugby league semi-finals have been put to bed, when they went down 52-10 to Orange CYMS at a chilly Wade Park.

Our boys never looked likely. We turned over too much ball and never had it long enough to build any momentum.

We were outplayed by a fairly handy Orange CYMS outfit and, although we tried hard, we battled to put a dint in them.

Big Vinny worked hard as did Jamil Hopoate and Billy Quarmby.

Bermo and Jak Jeffery also tried to give the Tigers some spark.

It was better for the reggies who moved into fourth spot on the ladder with a solid 24-18 victory. This was a decent game of footy.

The forward clash was physical with neither pack taking a backward step. Keenan Elwood was impressive.

He made several inroads into the CYMS defence with a couple of his breaks resulting in four pointers.

Jackson Cox and Pothole were also good. Ol’ Pothole never stopped - he would have made 30 odd tackles and carted the ball up from the get go.

Good effort from the boys. They seem to be finding a bit form at the right end of the season. The juniors were gutsy again and battled on despite being down on numbers. Great effort from those boys who did travel. Well done.

The girls put up a great effort despite going down 28-10 to the ladder-leading Orange CYMS outfit. Our girls outscored Orange CYMS in the second half 10-6 which was a super effort.

This weekend we take on Wello in Nyngan. The Tigers will be holding Old Boys Day.

Sure to be a great day so get over and cheer the boys back into the winner’s circle.
