The Nyngan Tigers endured a tough day on the road on Sunday, June 21, with Orange CYMS proving too strong across all grades.

Despite the 40-10 first grade score line, Tigers captain-coach Troy Evans said there were plenty of positive signs in the performance.

"I thought we were really dominant for most parts of the game," he said.

"Unfortunately, we have periods where we make crucial errors and give penalties away late in the tackle count that really hurts us.

"It's been a tough six weeks with injuries, but there's confidence building and we're not far off getting back to full strength.

The Nyngan Tigers currently sit at tenth place on the Peter McDonald Premiership ladder and Evans said the run home needed to be a good one.

The Tigers crossed for two tries through returning centre Sonny Knight and winger Matty McDougall. Knight recently returned to the black and orange jersey after spending time playing with Terrigal on the Central Coast and working on his professional boxing career in Newcastle.

The visitors battled through typical Orange winter conditions, with freezing temperatures making for a difficult afternoon.

Reserve grade produced a much closer contest, with Orange CYMS edging out Nyngan 22-18. The difference ultimately came down to a converted try and a penalty goal.

Sam Canty, Charlie Allen and Mat Sheather all crossed for tries for the Tigers, while Sheather was flawless with the boot, converting all three tries.

The Nyngan under 18s were unable to field a side and were forced to forfeit due to a lack of numbers.

In Ladies League Tag, Orange CYMS showcased their strength and fitness to record a 36-6 victory. Ellie Purtell scored Nyngan's lone try, with Emma Teale adding the conversion.

The Tigers will now return home next Sunday to take on the Macquarie Raiders in what shapes as an important round for the club. After two difficult weekends on the road, all four grades will be eager to return to the winners' circle in front of their home crowd.
