Hermidale residents have dusted off their tennis rackets and celebrated the resurfacing of the local courts with a fun community gathering on Saturday, February 11, 2024, afternoon.

Bogan Shire Council used NSW government grant funding to resurface the two courts at the Hermidale Community Centre last year.

On Saturday afternoon, around 40 people of all ages gathered for a “hit and giggle.”

It was so successful that it has been decided to make it a regular Saturday event for the foreseeable future.

Local resident Katie Mudford said it was the largest gathering for tennis in the community in about eight years.

“Bubba [Perry] sent out a message to gather the community, and we are so pleased with the number of people who came and many more who said they would come next time,” Katie said.

“The Community Centre has been a meeting place for our town through drought, difficult times, special events and celebrations.

“We are so lucky to have such a great facility, and we are excited to revitalise the tennis scene and come together to have a laugh and some fun.”

Katie said the tennis skills and ages are widely varied, and she encourages everyone to come along on Saturday afternoons.
