Proceedings commenced with a prayer given by Nyngan Baptist Church pastor Richard Milligan, which was followed by a short address from Bogan Shire Council's mayor Glen Neill.

Wreaths were laid at the foot of the cenotaph by representatives of the Nyngan RSL sub-Branch, Bogan Shire Council and the local police.

President of the Nyngan RSL Sub-Branch Derek Francis reflected on the famous World War I poem “In Flanders Fields” by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae.

Mr Francis read The Ode and concluded the ceremony with the John Maxwell Edmonds’ famous words which are inscribed at the Kohima War Cemetery in Japan: “When you go home, tell them of us and say, For your tomorrow, we gave our today.”
