Fire damages tobacco shop

Detectives from Central North Police District have commenced an investigation following a fire at a retail shop at Nyngan in the early hours of last Sunday, June 29.

About 3.30am on Sunday, June 29, emergency services were called to Pangee Street, Nyngan, following reports of a fire at the recently opened Nyngan Tobacco and Gifts shop. The fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW.

Police have advised there were no reports of injuries and no major structural damage, however, the shop, which only opened about three-months-ago, sustained extensive smoke and water damage.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances of the fire has commenced.

Police inquiries indicate the fire was deliberately lit.
