Duck Creek Week!
The Bogan shire’s biggest event - the Duck Creek Races - will start a week early this year with locals encouraged to get behind “Duck Creek Week”.

The organisers are hoping the first week of July, leading up to the annual race day, will see the local community turn yellow.
President of the Duck Creek Races, Rowen Cleaver said “Duck Creek Week” was one of several new initiatives the committee had put in place this year in order to set the vibe.
By last week 4000 race day tickets had sold online and Mr Cleaver said the event shaping up to be the biggest yet – definitely something to quack about.
“I’m hoping businesses will decorate their front windows and cafes may have a duck creek themed special. It will be a great way to get into the Duck Creek spirit,” Mr Cleaver said.
Co-ordinators of the week are Molly Smith and Amy Motley, who will assist business houses to decorate their shop fronts. “We will also be encouraging people to get involved by shopping locally and dropping their receipts to a central box. At the end of each day we will do a prize draw and give away Duck Creek merchandise,” Molly said.
“We will be highlighting our fabulous sponsors all week, and there will be Duck Creek goodies all around town.”
Molly said the idea was for the week not to cost business houses anything, and to hopefully generate excitement and local shopping. The Nyngan Hotel has already jumped on board with a Calcutta night on race day eve, which will also include live music and a party DJ. Proprietor Emily Stanton said there would be fire buckets and plenty of space to party. “It will be a great party vibe and help us get into swing for a fabulous Duck Creek weekend!”
